REVISED SCHEDULE - Main Street Music Fest

Schedule for Saturday, Sept. 21

  • 9-10 am:  BOTH Elementary 2 classes combined, taught by Christina Mielke

  • 9:15-10 am:  Pre-Ballet AND Elementary 1 (normally held at 10:15) combined, taught by Lauren Hawkes

  • 10:15-11:15 am:  Elementary 3, taught by Christina Mielke

  • 10:15-11 am:  Elementary 1 (normally held at 11:15) taught by Lauren Hawkes

  • 11:15 am-12:30 pm:  Conservatory 1, taught by substitute TBA

Additional Information

Main Street Music Fest is scheduled for Saturday, September 21, starting at noon.  Please note:

  • This will be a large, crowded event, and parking will be limited.  We STRONGLY recommend arriving as early as possible.  The Wine Bin lot will NOT be available for drop-offs/pickups.

  • You may wish to have someone drop you and your child off if possible, especially for classes starting at or after 10 am.

  • If you prefer, you can also take a makeup class instead of attending on the 21st.  This should not be necessary for those in classes starting at 9 or 9:15 am.  If you are not sure which class to take for a makeup, please email info@ellicottcityballet.com.

Harriet Tubman Day (ECBP Performance)

We look forward to joining the Harriet Tubman Foundation of Howard County for a second year, as they celebrate the history of Harriet Tubman Jr.-Sr. High School, the first high school in Howard County explicitly built for the education of African Americans from grades 7 through 12.

Wizarding Weekend Scavenger Hunt

Grab your wand, hop on your broom, and come for a Wizarding Weekend on Magical Main located throughout Old Ellicott City, benefiting the National Federation of the Blind. Put on your best costumes, explore historic Ellicott City, and join us for spectacular activities and events for children and adults—wizards and witches alike. Costume contest, crafts, potions, wand fittings, scavenger hunt, magic of chocolate, Butterbeer floats, specialty menus, choose your house, tours, and more.

Ballet Conservatoire XIV will be open on Saturday, October 5 from 8:30 am-3 pm for the scavenger hunt. Can you find the magical object hidden somewhere in our building?

Pre-Performance Period

Performance fees due October 19.

The pre-performance period consists of eight working weeks prior to a performance.  During that time, all rehearsals are mandatory, and dancers may not miss classes or rehearsals for any reason other than illness or injury.  If a dancer misses more than three rehearsals, or if they miss a rehearsal within two weeks of a performance, the faculty has sole discretion to decide whether the dancer may perform.  

Dancers are not considered to have attended a rehearsal unless they participate fully (arriving on time, dancing on pointe as required, etc.)

Mother-Daughter Date Night: Intro to Ballet

Experience the enjoyment and elegance of ballet in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Ballet is a fun and beautiful way to develop posture, balance, flexibility, strength, and coordination while engaging the mind artistically. All bodies welcome--no experience needed.

Taught by BCXIV faculty member Christina Mielke.

Intended for ages 5 and above.

Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement, with either socks or ballet shoes.

Nutcracker Tea (ECBP Performance)

~ 2nd Annual Holiday Nutcracker Tea ~

Old Mill Cafe and Ballet Conservatoire XIV invite you to join your favorite Ellicott City Nutcracker dancers for a magical afternoon tea party at the Old Mill Cafe in Historic Ellicott City.

Guests will be transported to an enchanting winter wonderland where you will enjoy readings from "The Nutcracker" followed by a beautiful performance by the Ellicott City Ballerina Project, while you indulge in holiday teas and sweet treats, topped off with posing for photos with the Sugar Plum Fairy and a holiday giveaway finale.

Bring a special someone and come delight yourself in the ultimate magical holiday experience!

*All tea ticket holders will attend The Nutcracker matinee performance at 3PM. Limited quantity of tickets available. Early booking advised.*

Learn more about what to expect during the 2019-20 school year. Dancers are welcome to attend, but this event is intended primarily for parents.

Topics covered include: policies, performances, presentation week & examinations, general information

Policy handbooks will be provided. Please bring a notepad and pen or pencil to write down questions. This event will end with a Q&A session.
